Lit-a-palooza: Top picks in the other March Madness

n Charlottesville, March Madness has a slightly different meaning from the rest of the basketball-crazed universe. Sure, we keep one eye on the NCAA playoffs, but in a town where you can hardly spit without hitting an author or two, the big game for lit lovers is the annual Virginia Festival of the Book March 21-25.

In its 12th year, the Book Fest has swollen from an humble affair of 50 events in 1995 to more than three times that number this year– most of them free. 

Last year over 26,000 people attended the Festival, and there's no reason to think those numbers will decline this year.
